Steve Morrow Kitchens, a freelance kitchen fitter operating out of Essex selected JD&Co. to create a small website to promote his services online and allow potential customers using the internet to contact him easily.
In designing the site JD&Co. worked with Steve to find out what he wanted from the internet, and to gain an understanding of his work, his goals, and his target demographics, while living up to Steve's aspirations for an online presence. He wanted a clean, modern website to reinforce the quality of his work and to reflect the modern style of kitchens he fits.
Steve sent us examples of websites, styles, and trends that he liked and thought would compliment his work, he was adamant for a 'dark modern' website. JD&Co. went away, and did a little research into the kitchen and home improvements market, and found common elements present in local showrooms, and similar websites.
We then designed two prototype designs for Steve to review and pass his comments; we created two prototypes for Steve, one utilising a dark colour palette to conform to his initial wants, and one using a light colour palette based on the research we performed.
After sending over our two prototype designs; Steve collected comments and critiques from his family, friends, and associates, and he settled on the light palette based upon our advice and the comments he had received.
Throughout the entire process from design to implementation, we worked closely with Steve to ensure the content he wanted to focus on was predominant, and that there was a flow between the pages leading the audience from the homepage, through the content and onto the enquiry form.
Prototype A - Dark
Prototype B - Light
